Class 8 students were engaged in an activity to compare the absorbing power of a variety of different fabrics both natural and synthetic. They were given six samples of different fabrics.

Reactivity of metals with oxygen

Students were taken to the lab to demonstrate the reaction of magnesium ribbon with oxygen. Magnesium burns in air to form a white ash and burns with a luminous flame. When this white powder ash is dissolved in water and tested with a drop of phenopthalpheno indicator, the solution turns dark pink showing that the solution is basic in nature.

As said by Sir Charles Darwin, today on the occasion of EARTH DAY, students were taken to the herbal garden of our school to promote a sense of appreciation and responsibility towards mother nature. Let us all take a pledge to contribute our share in conserving the nature.
